This evening, an event took place in Bodrum that shocked the business world. Famous businessman Kaya Sabancı was injured in the argument at Hakkasan Bodrum, which operates within Mandarin Oriental Bodrum, and was hospitalized.

According to the information obtained by Kent Haber from eyewitnesses, Kaya Sabancı (72), who came to Hakkasan Bodrum, where the season opening party was held this evening, first started a loud and violent argument with a person next to him. The prolonged discussion turned into a fight after a while. Kaya Sabancı punched the person he was arguing with in the face. An eyewitness at the scene claimed that the person's nose was broken.

Upon the brawl that suddenly broke out in the venue, people around tried to break up the fight. Meanwhile, Vedat Aşçı, the owner of Mandarin Oriental and Chairman of the Board of ASTAŞ Holding, who was at the venue, went to the duo and invited the parties to remain calm. When Kaya Sabancı, who was allegedly drunk and very angry, hurled obscenities at Vedat Aşçı, Aşçı punched Sabancı. Sabancı, who fell to the ground and hit his head due to the impact, was taken to Bodrum American Hospital by ambulance. 

It was announced that Kaya Sabancı, who received first aid at the hospital and was found to be in good general condition, will be kept under observation tonight. Sabancı is expected to be discharged tomorrow morning.

STATEMENT FROM SABANCI'S LAWYER...

On the other hand, Kaya Sabancı's lawyer Ömer Reşat Kayran made a statement to journalists in front of the hospital about the incident. Stating that they will file a complaint about the incident and follow the legal process, Kayran said;

“Today around 9 o'clock, after Mr. Kaya greeted Vedat Aşçı, the owner and operator of Mandarin Oriental, at the opening of a restaurant on the Mandarin Oriental site to which he was invited, Kaya was beaten by Vedat Aşcı himself and by his guards upon his instigation. He is currently under observation at the American Hospital, examinations are being carried out, and we are waiting for the reports. Following the incident, we have images and photographs showing that an ambulance was not allowed in, under the guidance of Vedat Aşçı, and at the same time, the ambulance that entered was not allowed to leave. We are following and have initiated the legal process regarding Vedat Aşçı, his guards and security. Mr. Kaya will remain in the hospital under observation today, his condition will be checked tomorrow morning and, if necessary, he will be discharged. There is a restaurant in the hotel. When they went there as a guest, Kaya Bey also stated, "He attacked me after I didn't greet him." Before this, there were some ongoing disagreements between Kaya Bey and Vedat Bey. It is a well-known fact that Mr. Kaya does not like Mr. Vedat and that there is a disagreement between them because he gives the necessary feedback to both Mr. Vedat and the site management about the things he sees wrong in the site he lives on. The event is already taking place in front of dozens of people, in front of witnesses. "A 72-year-old person is beaten and thrown in front of a restaurant with a mafia method, this is not a situation that can be explained in any way," he said.

Kaya Sabancı's captain, Kemal Kocaoğlan, said about the incident: “Kaya Bey falls to the ground. He called me to pick me up from here and I went to the scene. "He says he didn't swear, but there was a rift between them for a long time," he said.
